Faculty MHLS – Core Technology Units
This post will be providing technical support within a laboratory and workshop environment for teaching and research purposes. The successful candidate will contribute to the care for animals including cleaning, feeding and the provision of water to ensure that animals have high standards of welfare. They will operate straightforward equipment/machinery/apparatus for research and teaching purposes in a standardised way and assist with maintaining general cleanliness and tidiness. This position involves low and high level lifting, twisting, turning and carrying weights up to 20kg as well as working in an environment where animal allergens are present in the air and on work surfaces. Final appointments will be subject to pre-employment health screening.
The successful candidates must have:
• Academic and/or vocational qualifications i.e. 5 GCSE’s A-C and/or NVQ level 2 in relevant subject (or equivalent)
• 1 year’s relevant experience in working with animals and be familiar with the animal facility in a research setting, to include previous experience in animal care, cleaning and feeding
• Previous experience in maintaining a high level of cleanliness in a facility/workplace.
• Experience working with products to maintain aseptic environments such as alcohol, bleach, anti-viral washes, autoclave and/or UV light sterilization

Salary Scale: £18,342 to £21,236 per annum
