PVPs should continue to be alert for potential cases of the infection and also take suitable precautions in preventing the potential further spread of the virus.

PVPs need to:

Be careful - Coggins test any suspicious horses (e.g. recurrent fever, anaemic, been to RoI)

Be vigilant - 1 horse, 1 needle, 1 syringe. Disinfect twitches, tooth rasps etc between horses

Be proactive - Keep horse owners informed as may want horses tested if they have been to RoI (clear test after 90 days)
