Established in 1836, the USPCA is the second oldest animal welfare charity in the world and its purpose has remained unchanged over that time – the prevention of cruelty and the relief of suffering in animals.
The Charity provides veterinary treatment for members of the local community who may not be able to afford regular veterinary fees, has an active wildlife rescue service and has an active rehoming programme for companion animals in need.

- Part time Veterinary Surgeon (one weekend in three, 15 hours)

Glenn Vet Clinic, a Small Animal Practice in Bangor, established over 26 years ago, is currently looking to recruit a locum Assistant Veterinary Surgeon to join its professional and progressive team on a 4 day week basis to cover maternity leave.
Our practice is RCVS tier 2 accredited, very well equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, fully equipped laboratory, endoscope and bronchoscope facilitating thorough investigation of cases. In addition, we have 2 operating theatres and separate dog and cat hospitalisation and isolation facilities.
We pride ourselves in a gold standard service encouraging welfare as central to the thorough investigation of cases. We have an excellent reputation in our area and beyond, and a very loyal client base.
The ideal candidate will be competent in routine surgeries with a detailed knowledge of differential diagnoses and development of individual treatment plans. You will also need to be confident and experienced with client care as top priority. In return you will be given the time and support to work with your clients and treat cases from start to finish.
Whilst teamwork is all important in our practice, and we have excellent nursing backup, the development of individual interests and skills, along with CPD, is very much encouraged and supported.

Animal Health and Welfare Northern Ireland was formed in 2012 as an industry led not-for-profit partnership between livestock producers, processors, animal health advisers and government. It is overseen by a board of directors drawn from across the cattle related agri-food sector. Its remit is to facilitate the control and wherever possible the eradication of diseases and conditions of cattle which are endemic in Northern Ireland, but which have not been subject to regulation or coordinated programmes of control.
The primary function of this role will be to lead and manage the Northern Ireland Bovine Viral Disease eradication programme. S/he will also be required to provide support to other disease control programmes and initiatives as directed by the board of AHWNI.
