Small Animal Vet
Full-time or Part-time Small Animal Vet – USPCA, Newry
Established in 1836, the USPCA is the second oldest animal welfare charity in the world. Our purpose has remained unchanged over that time – the prevention of cruelty and the relief of suffering in animals.
Our vet practice is based at our centre in Newry. The rehoming centre, wildlife facilities, grooming salon and pet shop supplies are all on one site. We are a busy small animal practice, trying to provide an affordable service for our private clients, while prioritising our own shelter animals and wildlife. This leads to a good variety of surgical and medical cases; however, animal welfare is always our primary focus – we have a strong belief in “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
We are now recruiting to expand our vet team. Currently, we have a team of 3 vets, 1 RVN, 2 SVNs and a reception support team. We would be open to both full-time or part-time applicants, ideally with a minimum of 2 years’ experience, however we would be open to supporting a new graduate for the right applicant. Our full-time contract is 35 hours, usually spanned over 4 days, typically 9-7pm but shorter shifts can be accommodated. There is no OOH, Saturdays are optional and with the expansion of our vet team sole charge will be minimum.
Salary Package includes:
– Salary starting at £43,000 D.O.E
– 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays
– RCVS, VDS and AVSPNI fees paid
– £1000 CPD allowance
– Contributory pension scheme
For anyone looking for a change or wants to have an informal discussion please email tkerr@uspca.co.uk – all enquiries will be completely confidential.
